Do you know how to Murf?

Today the school Council (AKA The Greenies) met up with Jean and Debra from Hampshire recycling to create an action plan to help reduce waste at Oakfield.

We went all around the school finding ways to increase the amount of recycling we could do.....we spied on Mrs Tritton in the office....peaked into Caterpillars' class and walked all around our lovely grounds.

We have decided on lots of actions, here are the first few from our action plan....
1) Make lots of posters to remind adults and children how to recycle
2) Make scrap paper trays for each classroom
3) Label rubbish and recycling bins
4) Create a compost heap
5) Creat a school recycling bank

As you can see we have lots of work ahead of us at Oakfield...good job the Greenies are on the case!

After our action plan we 'murfed' ourselves into workers at a Material Recycling Centre (MRF). It was harder than it looked to make sure all the correct bits of recycling went to the right place!

We had lots of fun and learnt a lot...thanks Jean and Debra!

Watch out for the Greenies around Oakfield completing their action plan!
