Oakfield Greenies get started!

Oakfield's School Council teamed up with Jean from Recycling Hampshire to look at how we recycle in school and to spread the word about how we can get even better!

First of all, Jean told us all about recycling and the ways Hampshire and the government are making England a 'greener' country.

Next, we decided on our new name...'The Greenies' and became very hands-on as we looked through all our school rubbish to see how good we were at recycling. We weighed and recorded how much rubbish and recycling we had. We are hoping to reduce the amount of rubbish and increase the amount of recyling before Jean visits us again!

Did you know that used tissues should go in the RUBBISH bin?
If something has been laminated it should go in the RUBBISH bin too?
At school, Jean said that only 'bottle shaped' plastics should go in the recycling bin!

We told everybody else in the school all that we had learned in Friday's assembly.... we will be keeping a close eye on everybody's recycling habits in the school. We also want to start recycling other items besides paper and plastic...did you know we can even recycle our handwriting pens?

Watch out for our posters to remind you!
