A celebration of art in Woodpeckers and Owls

Despite the impending Christmas break, last week Owls and Woodpeckers hosted their final parent celebration of 2011.

During this half term the children have been studying the life and art of the famous Vincent Van Gogh. Following a lot of preparatory art and experimentation of different techniques and mediums, each child in Woodpeckers class produced their own version of either 'Starry Night' or 'Sunflowers'. Friends and family were amazed at the impressive efforts. Here are some of their comments:

"Some very talented pupils in Year 5 - super!!"

"The quality of the artwork was very impressive."

In Owls' class, they combined art with Science, by creating their own versions of 'Starry Night' and illuminating them with lightbulbs on complex circuits they had devised themselves. Well done.

Keep watching this space for photos of this stunning work in the New Year.
